How we work

Saar means essence in Sanskrit, to discover a projects essence is at the heart of our practice. As we seek to ground a project in the potential of its place, our focus is to understand how it sits in its living context. For us every project and place is a living system to listen and respond to.

Studio Saar has the ambition to create not only sustainable solutions but truly regenerative environments for all beings to thrive within.

We are propelled by the value nurtured from the cross-cultural sharing of ideas, methodologies and technologies. As we work globally across multiple continents, collaboration, research and sharing of ideas are of paramount importance. We aim for every project to create valuable ripples through the communities and ecosystems they are a part of. We believe that all projects are never finished and will always have the potential to evolve and improve

The trifecta - brief, site and precedents
Every project is constrained and evolved using inputs from the client’s brief, a global and local study of precedents and the specific context of the project.

Understand brief and ideate
Our practice is highly iterative in nature, constantly moving from hand sketches, to physical models, and technical drawings/ virtual models. This process allows us to investigate the proposal from multiple angles.

Constraints + Opportunities
At the initial brief development stage of a project we work hard to analyse a site. Mapping is a critical tool to understand constraints and opportunities. We don’t talk about problems as obstacles as they always provide valuable insight and can be used to direct a project forward.
